San Storage به میزانی از ذخیره ساز با دسترسی بلاک Level برای سرور ها در مرکز داده و اتاق های سرور گفته می شود که مستقیما و بی واسطه به بلاک های Hard Disk پرسرعت دسترسی مستقیم موجود دارد. وقتی انعطاف پذیری و تطبیق پذیری اهمیت پیدا می کند نمی توان هیچ فناوری پیدا کرد که برتر از استوریج های Block Level باشند.
مزایای استفاده از ذخیره ساز San
ذخیره ساز های سطح بلاک دارای سرعت و ظرفیت بالا و با امکان ذخیره سازی فایل، دیتا سنتر و دیتکت و تشخیص فایل های VMFS پرسرعت می باشند. فضای Hard disk در San Storage یا ذخیره ساز San ها امکان استفاده از رید های مختلف با فرمت های متفاوت مثل NTFS و یا VMFS را دارد. سرعتی که داده ها در SAN انتقال داده می جا به جا می شوند به خاطر متصل شدن به وسیله فییر نوری اف سی و یا کانال فییر همیشه سرعتی حدودا هشت گیگابایت و یا در نسخه های جدیدتر شانزده گیگابایت را در بر دارد.
انتقال اطلاعات در SAN به وسیله San Storage پرسرعت ترین روش ارتباطی بین ذخیره ساز ها و سرور ها می باشد یعنی سرعتی بسیار بیشتر از DAS. هدف در این روش این است که اطلاعات در یک نقطه متمرکز شوند و علاوه بر این جابه جایی اطلاعات بین سرور و دستگاه استوریج به شکل خواندن و نوشتن بدون ارائه سرویس می باشد.
بررسی خصوصيات بیشتر
در کمپانی های بزرگ با تعداد بالای سرور، استفاده از San Storage کارآمد تر و منعطف تر از DAS و NAS عمل می کند. علاوه بر این با هزینه های کمتر سخت افزاری مقرون به صرفه تر نیز می باشد. همچنین هنگام نیاز به فضای ذخیره سازی بیشتر خیلی ساده می توانید، با ارتقای SAN این فضا را گسترش دهید. استفاده از ذخیره ساز San برای بکاپ گیری ها نیز بسیار مناسب است. هنگام استفاده این استوریج خیلی راحت می توان اطلاعات را از هارد یک SAN به SAN دیگر بدون نیاز به سرور منتقل کرد. پشتیبان گیری از اطلاعات هارد در san پردازنده های سرور درگیر نمی شوند و این عدم نیاز مداوم به سرور ها خود می تواند موجب کاهش هزینه ها شود.
از دیگر مزایای استفاده از این روش ذخیره‌سازی می توان به افزایش قدرت پردازشی پردازنده های موجود در سرور با جدا کردن فضای ذخیره سازی داده ها از روی سرور و قرار دادن آن روی ذخیره سازSan اشاره کرد.
